Shanghai Oriental Basketball Club is a team with a glorious history and has cultivated a number of basketball talents for China, recognized as the "Cradle of Chinese Basketball".

Since Shanghai Oriental Basketball Club was founded in Jan 5, 1996, it has experienced a tremendous progression in CBA Division I-A for the past 5 seasons. It also recognizes the importance of continuous new blood, hence Oriental has recruited rookies almost every year including the current national team players, Yao Ming and Liu Wai.

Inherited from the traditional style of flexible, accurate, and fast movements in Shanghai, Oriental Basketball Club also balanced the strength of the young players both at the offense and defense. To further reinforce its power for this coming season, Oriental Basketball Club will be aiming at combining the Southern Basketball Techniques and the Northern Players' strengths.
